# Types of Triangles

In the previous blog post, we went over the basic properties of a triangle. In this post, we will examine the different types of triangles we may see.

## Equilateral Triangle

An equilateral triangle is a triangle that has 3 equal sides and 3 equal angles.

## Isosceles Triangle

An isosceles triangle is a triangle that only has 2 equal sides and 2 equal angles.

## Scalene Triangle

A scalene triangle is a triangle that has no equal sides and no equal angles.

## Right Triangle

A right triangle is a triangle that has an angle with a measure of • The is also known as the “right angle”.
• A angle is usually notated by the  symbol.
• The longest side is always opposite of the angle and is called the hypotenuse.
